Ip Man Wing Chun

Learn one of the most practical, effective and enjoyable styles of martial art in relaxed and friendly classes. Through interactive and detailed teaching you will discover how to overcome an opponent using skill rather than strength, making new friends in the process as you learn a skill that you will have for the rest of your life. Each class involves:

  • Enjoyable partner training (Chi Sau)

  • Learn forms and footwork

  • Martial arts applications

  • Philosophy and personal development

Wing Chun Kung Fu is so well known because Bruce Lee’s fame raised the global profile of both Wing Chun and his teacher Ip Man, a skilful and principled man who featured as a character in the recent and popular IP MAN movies. The skill taught in class passed directly from Ip Man to his son Ip Chun and was then brought to the UK by Grandmaster Michael Tse, Ip Chun’s most senior student teaching in the West. Sifu Laurie has studied with the Tse Qigong Centre for over 20 years and is a close senior student of the Chief Instructor, Master Darryl Moy.

Wild Goose Qigong

Learn the beautiful flowing movements in relaxed, friendly classes and foster good health, longevity and happiness. Good health is dependent upon the natural flow and circulation of ‘Qi’, the vital energy that is present in our body and the environment. ‘Gong’ means work or exercise so Qigong practice helps us to gather more Qi from the air around us, increasing circulation and moving any blockages that might have made us feel tired or ill. Regular practice is good for balancing the body and mind and can help with low energy, back pain, insomnia, chronic fatigue, joint pain, old injuries and more. Each class involves:

  • Individual tuition allowing students to study at their own pace

  • Underpinning theory including acupuncture points and Chinese philosophy

  • Meditation and mindfulness

Grandmaster Michael Tse learned Wild Goose Qigong from Grandmaster Yang Meijun, a famous Chinese Qigong master who opened the skill the public in the 1980’s. Sifu Laurie has studied with the Tse Qigong Centre for over 20 years, has trained regularly with Grandmaster Michael Tse and is a close senior student of the Chief Instructor Master Darryl Moy.

Shaolin Chun Yuen Quan

Chun Yuen Quan is a dynamic Kung Fu skill that is rooted in the famous martial arts tradition of the Northern Shaolin Temple. More recently the skill was practiced by performers in the Beijing Opera who valued the dynamic movements and beautiful postures. The skill is now practiced primarily for health and is good for flexibility, balance, bone strength and co-ordination. Regular practice will make the body light and the circulation strong. Many students study and practice both Chun Yuen Quan and Wild Goose Qigong, finding that the skills complement each other very well. Each class involves:

  • Warm ups and stretches

  • Practicing forms as a group

  • Individual tuition allowing students to learn at their own pace

Grandmaster Michael Tse learnt the skill from Grandmaster Wu Chun Yuen, a highly skilled yet humble man with immaculate posture who taught in a park in Beijing every morning from 6am. Sifu Laurie has studied with the Tse Qigong Centre for over 20 years, has trained regularly with Grandmaster Michael Tse and is a close senior student of the Chief Instructor, Master Darryl Moy.
